Mrinalini Cariapa is the designer and owner of the brand, ‘Flames of the Forest’.
Mrinalini was a ‘child of nature’ in so many ways. Her school in Ooty was set in nature. Family holidays were most often in close interaction with nature and in natural surroundings. Mrina, as she is fondly called, was drawn to intricate patterns, shapes, textures and colours around her and it fuelled her imagination. Even as a young girl, her ‘magic’ hands were creating delicate crafts and jewellery. Encouragement flowed as jewellery making earned her appreciation and pocket money! Her unique gifts and talents were supported by her parents as they brought back unusual beads for her whenever they travelled anywhere, and her birthdays and special occasions were opportunities to receive tools and supplies for her craft.
Mrina studied in Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, Pearl Achademy and graduated from JDTI (Jewellery Design & Technology Institute) Noida, Mrina set up a design and manufacturing unit in 2006. She was fascinated with the patterns in natural stones and wished to showcase their innate beauty. Within a few years, Flames of the Forest was birthed. Mrina continues to be inspired as she breathes life into new design and creations.
